After reviewing Anthem Inc.€™s Standards of Ethical Business Conduct, I have analyzed whether Anthem Inc.€™s code is lacking in the area of corporate social responsibility. In order to answer this, you must first understand what Corporate Social Responsibility is. The short version of Corporate Social Responsibility is that the Corporation has an obligation to its society and the interests and welfare of that society that provides its resources, to provide an environment for that society to succeed or flourish. Anthem€™s Business is Health Insurance, so the €˜society€™ for them are the employee€™s, the customers, and the suppliers (in this case, the providers, who provide the services to Anthem customers.) Anthem has neatly laid out their Value statement on the first several pages, and then moves to the expectations of employees to adhere to the values, and their responsibility to comply with policies and all applicable laws. It highlights for employees, what there expectation is for, where to find additional resources, where to go if they have questions or concerns. They include management expectations, what associate training is expected, expectation f knowing company policies (such as PHI requirements). They discuss ways that the work place can and needs to be safe and i
