C205 Task 1.docx    Group Dynamics and Development  Name Removed for Privacy  Western Governors University  C205 Leading Teams Task 1  A1.  Discuss at least three factors to consider when creating professional teams or work groups.  There are several factors to consider when creating a professional team or work group, including level of guidance needed, purpose, and experience.   The first thing that you have to understand is that professional teams and work groups, are not the same thing. Although some may enter-identify as such, there are some major differences.       First, a professional team tends to share leadership roles and are more self-guided, where a work group requires guided direction from a leader. A great example of this is, the current team building part of this class. We are all in charge of our own schedules, homework, etc.. but our overall professional team objective is to work together for part of the class, and also work on an individual level to create our piece of the PowerPoint, but to bring the entire project together cohesively. We have accountability, not only to ourselves, but also to each other. If one of us fails, we all do, while in working group they are delegated a task by a leader, and are only accountable for their individual production and/or goals.  If they fail, only they fail, if they succeed, only they succeed.  Next, purpose is important for a professional team, each individual is selected for a purpose.
