These factors contribute to the overall success of a team by identifying the proper members, providing those identified members a framework of expectation to independently work from, and a structure that identifies each member of their role and responsibilities (Pentland, A. (2012)). Without these three basic foundations, teams are less likely to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. This generally occurs due to lack of consistent expectations around scope of project, individuals responsibilities, and deadlines throughout the project. While the above three factors are vital to a teams success, they are not the only factors that contribute to the completion of successful projects. Research has proven that trust within a team is a key performance indicator to a projects success or failure (Kurtzberg, T. (2001)). Three practices that assist with building trust within a team are: create a culture of trust by discussing it regularly, removing the stigma from making mistakes and remove a running tally, and lead by example. When displaying these three practices it shows the members of your team that you are not overly critical of ideas, suggested solutions to problems, and highlights that you also can make mistakes.
