Pulse oximeters play a vital role in the management of neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I chose the topic of pulse oximetry because as a NICU nurse, it is one of the primary forms of technology we use. Using the Summon database, I searched “pulse oximetry, pulse oximetry neonates, and pulse oximetry  premature infants”. I then filtered peer-reviewed articles that were within the last five years.
