PSYCH 629 week 4 paper.docx PSCYH/629 Workplace Motivation University of Phoenix PSCYH/629 Introduction to Industrial/Organizational Psychology Workplace Motivation Any instance where my motivation dwindles, it is usually because the rest of the work team is feeling low on our chances for success and the overall energy of the room is negative; it becomes rather difficult to feel motivated to work when no one else seems to have that motivation themselves. I feel that the largest effect of my lack of motivation has come from times when my managers would also lack motivation. One example that I can remember when we all had lacked motivation was when we had low scores on certain sales goals; as we have had been getting more and more goals needed to make numbers, even my manager had become discouraged that we would always have low scores and some high scores instead of previous high scores across the board. Since they had accepted that our numbers would always be fluctuating, the rest of us had agreed with the negative assumption. The primary factor for this lack of motivation would be the motivation lead by leadership; Shakil (2020) states that employee satisfaction is very dependent on leadership and motivation; they also say that both are equally of value, where both are needed to improve employee satisfaction. Motivation Theories Motivation theories can be applied in many situations involving workplace motivation; in the case for my situation, the self-determination theory can be applied here.
