More and more, nations of the world are having a difficult time remaining economically stable. The country whose economic future concerns us most is that of our own country. The United States, throughout the majority of its history, has had a rising budget deficit. In the last ten to fifteen years, the deficit has grown at an alarming rate and our government seems unwilling to make hard decisions to start correcting the problem. The primary reason is fear of the political fallout that may occur from making the difficult choices. Instead, politicians look for painless, quick solutions that appear to fix the problem but put off the hard choices for another generation. The main goal of the United States should be to fix the federal budget and strengthen the U.S. economy. Balancing the Federal Budget The United States government needs to put greater effort into balancing the federal budget. Unlike past presidents, who have made proposals that made certain that their administration would have no “fall-out†from such decisions, we ask that the solution be initiated as soon as possible, taking precedent over all other issues. Balancing the U.S. budget would not only profoundly benefit the United States and its economy but it would also have a tremendous impact on the economies of all nations, improving confidence in the economic future in the world and
