PBL   ECON 101 Final Version 1.docx  ECON-101  Balancing the Federal Budget  ECON-101  Abstract  The world today is one of economic uncertainty and discord.  More and more, nations of the world are having a difficult time remaining economically stable. The country whose economic future concerns us most is that of our own country. The United States, throughout the majority  of its history, has had a rising budget deficit.  In the last ten to fifteen years, the deficit has grown at an alarming rate and our government seems unwilling to make hard decisions to start correcting the problem. The primary reason is fear of the political fallout that may occur from making the difficult choices.  Instead, politicians look for painless, quick solutions that appear to fix the problem but put off the hard choices for another generation. The main goal of the United States should be to fix the federal budget and strengthen the U.S. econom
