What strategies Exist to reduce crime,disorder and anti-social behaviour. (P5) Analyse how the strategies used by local community public services work to reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. (M3) Crimes occur everywhere, however they do differ from place to place in there types and quantities. This is why there are many different strategies we have in place throughout the country in order to try and reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. The public services are able to develop strategies by: • Comparing their statistics of crime across the country to find patterns • Recording crime to highlight specific crimes Here are some strategies we have in place throughout the country to try and reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour: Intelligence-led policing The National Intelligence Model (NIM) is an intelligence led Business Model, utilised by Police Forces in the UK to gather and manage information in order to make the most effective decisions. The NIM was devised by the National Criminal Intelligence Service and adopted by the Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland in 2000. Essentially, the model professionalises the intelligence discipline by facilitating the identification of Priorities and the allocation of resources. The NIM is structured through a regular pattern of meetings and emphasises three key factors: • Priorities – The development and analysis of information/intelligence enables a deeper understanding of crime and non-crime issues and the identification of Priorities • Resources – Effective decision-making is guided by the identified Priorities. Finite resources and information gathering activities are coordinated and Tasked to these areas, which pose the most significant threat to the public, the community and the Organisation. • Results –The outcome of each Tasked activity is evaluated and fed back into the system, which continually develops exiting intelligence, increases the Force's ability to tackle identified problem areas and facilitates the assessment of Force priorities. The main outcomes of the NIM include: • Increased community safety • Reduced crime • Controlled disorder • Controlled criminality
