Introduction:
In this experiment, we’re going to examine the force acted on a body by the Earth’s gravitational pull. If the distance of the fall is less than the Earth’s radius, then the accelerating force due to gravity is constant and in this case it’s going to uniform. As the distance of the fall is small and the object being examined is a dense substance, we’re going to neglect air resistance as it is extremely small.
So, for an object moving at constant acceleration, the velocity vs. time graph is a straight line.
The formula for acceleration is:
a= v−v0
t
or
v =v0+at
Here ‘a’ represents acceleration, ‘v’ represents the final velocity of the object, ‘ v0 ’ represents the initial velocity of the object and ‘t’ represents the time taken for the object to reach the final velocity from the initial starting velocity.
