CJA314 Criminology in the Future

The world is full of changes; people change, vehicles change, fashion changes, and crime changes.  Criminals look for new and elaborate ways to commit crimes and get away with it. Law enforcement agencies are constantly adapting and adopting new means to stay one step ahead of those that commit crime. Technology and law enforcement have gone hand in hand and will continue to do so for many years to come. Some of the ways that technology is the driving force in criminology can be found in the future directions of crime fighting, crime fighting methodologies, and forensic technologies. Technology is a double edged sword however and can hinder on the line of civil and or ethical boundaries. It is amazing to think how far law enforcement has come since the days of the Old West where a town relied on one man with a gun, a badge, and a horse, and posse, and is even more amazing to think what the future holds.
