Stress can be referred to how the brain and body respond to something such as performance at work or school, a major life change, or even a traumatic event. It is a normal reaction the body makes when certain changes occur, resulting in emotional, physical, and mental responses. On the contrary, anxiety is a feeling of fear and constant worriedness. These individuals have intense, excessive, and constant worry and fear about everyday situations. (National Institute of Mental Health, 2018). Additionally, the combination of both stress and fear can be known as a phobia. A phobia can be defined as an excessive and irrational fear to something, and when mixed with anxiety, it can contribute to abnormal functioning. Many of the movies and TV shows that people watch every day portray a character or multiple characters that experience stress, anxiety, or have a phobia. There are examples of abnormal functioning that are portrayed in the media such as in books, television shows, and movies. In the movie Finding Nemo, Marlin, Nemos dad, shows examples of a character that is affected by stress, anxiety, and phobias.
