This initially something added to the constitution to allow slaves and the future descendants citizenship, but in the most recent years it has been used a method of immigration for most. The 14th amendment was not meant for the use of illegal immigrants to come to this country and have babies so that they have birthright citizenship to aid them in getting out of their unfortunate lives in their native country. It is repeatedly abused by immigrants and it has to come to an end. The only way to do that is to stop birthright citizenship. If someone wants to be a citizen of this great nation, then they need to take the appropriate steps to doing it instead of trying to play on officials hearts by garnering support and sympathy. While others think that the United States was built by and for immigrants who deserve the right to make a better life for themselves and their families, they miss the fact that times have changed, and we cannot continue to extend handouts. The children of undocumented immigrants should no longer be granted birthright citizenship.
