JOT2 Task1.docx (1)    Learner and Context Analysis  Assessment Code: JOT2 Task 1    Learner and Context Analysis  Instructional Setting and Content Area  The targeted learners are second graders, ages 8-9 in the math setting. There are 21 students in the class, but the needs analysis focuses on 17 of those who are labeled as one grade level below in number and operations. The math curriculum used is called i-Ready which provides students with math instruction books that is completed as a whole group and problem-solving practice that they do independently. The first half of math is direct and guided instruction with videos and models through the i-Ready teacher toolbox. The second half of math is math centers consisting of practice and problem-solving pages, games, and i-Ready online instruction that is designed to meet each individual needs based off of the diagnostic results. Each lesson on average is 4-5 days of instruction with a quiz at the end.   The physical space of my classroom consists of 4-5 students at table groups spread out throughout the center of the room. Students are grouped by their performance on the i-Ready math and reading diagnostic results. Each table team consists of students that are high, medium-high, medium-low, and low performance. There are kidney shaped tables that boarder the team tables that are used for math centers and small group instruction. At these tables there is easy access to math manipulatives such as base ten blocks, dice, flash cards, handheld clocks
