The article The Environmental Burden of Generation Z by Plautz (2020) discusses the link between climate change and psychological or emotional health status of children. According to Plautz (2020) young adults or rather the college students who are approaching early adults feel scared and anxious about the varying climate changes. Some of the students have already lost hope and see no need of continuing with their education. Unfortunately, as Plautz concludes their anxiety goes unaddressed because the society is doing absolutely nothing to amend the situation. How does this news story relate to the topics covered in the current course unit? As argued by Berk (2014) in the textbook covering Development through the lifespan, adolescence and early adulthood are developmental stages that usher fundamental life transitions and are also risky stages because of the development of anxiety. As argued by Plautz young people feel anxious about the current climate change and feel worried about the adverse effects caused by varying changes in climate.
