To reduce fatalities, injuries, property damage, and to deter citizens to drive drunk the sobriety checkpoints were created. To deter the use of drugs by public employees and high school students random drug tests are conducted. These policies were created to protect the citizen's health and safety, but they raise the question of whether they comply with the equal protection and due process clauses.  The Effect of Policies  The policies of raising the minimum legal age to consume and buy alcohol to age 21 and sobriety checkpoints were both created to prevent drunk driving and reduce alcohol-related vehicle accidents. These policies have been effective in reducing alcohol-related vehicle accidents among teenage drivers and adults. Their effect can be measured by conducting a study to see if the percentage of accidents due to alcohol drinking has decreased.
