On July 19, 2012, what would then be termed as the deadliest mass shooting in history, which killed 12 people and wounded 70 others. This act was perpetrated by one James Eagan Holmes in Aurora, Colorado at a Century Aurora 16 Multiplex Theater for the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises." Approximately nine minutes into the movie Mr. Holmes leaves through a side door and dresses in the full body armor and grabs the stockpile of guns, 6,000 rounds worth of ammunition, and teargas that he had bought a month prior to the release of this particular movie (Cable News Network, 2020). He reenters the theater and starts firing. When finished he leaves and quietly surrenders to the police. After his surrender in his statement to police at the scene, he tells them his apartment is loaded with bombs and is set with a tripwire to explode. The complex is evacuated, and the bomb squad were sent in to disarm and dispose and all the makeshift bombs in Mr. Holmes' apartment, using a "controlled detonation" to disable a second triggering device.
