Helping a family to stay on track and to overcome some of lifes adversities can be some simple things such as going to a school counselor on a regular basis. Joining a church for the family to go too, or even making sure that your family has dinner together without the presence of electronics at the table. Keeping a functional family free of dysfunctional traits can be up to the parents in the way they chose to live their life in front of the children. When a parent displays negative actions the children display a negative reaction. To change this, it is best to show a positive healthy way of reprimanding the children. There is no need for yelling and screaming.  A functional family, handles things differently by disciplining their children in more of a healthy manner, take away their video games, ground them for a week, or no phone for a week.
