SPD_580_Clinical_Field_Experience_A.docx Clinical Field Experience A: The High School English Language Arts Classroom Grand Canyon University SPD-580: Methods of Teaching Lang Arts to Students with Mild/Moderate Disabilities Introduction I had the opportunity to watch two videos in order to complete this assignment. Due to the pandemic I had to watch the videos because schools are still closed. One of the videos was about different reading strategies that can be implemented. The other video was about an 11th grade English class in action. Strategies The video demonstrated different strategies for reading that can be implemented such as asking general questions. Another strategy the video mention is to look for clues in order to try to answer the questions. This strategy will also help a student determine if a text is to easy or to hard for them to read. The next strategy the video mentioned is determining the audience and why they may read the text. Determining the purpose of the text is another strategy that was mentioned. The last strategy that was mentioned in this video is determining the topic. This strategy gives students the opportunity to comprehend the big picture but also help identify the key words. By allowing students to scan their text for 15-40 seconds it gives them an opportunity to determine is they can answer all four questions. The other video is an 11th English class in action. On the video I noticed that the teacher asked her student what where some guided annotation she provided them
