Blood pressure regulation begins in the hypothalamus, which is stored in the posterior pituitary gland. The different parameters that regulate arterial blood pressure are baroreceptors and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. The two baroreceptors that change the blood pressure are the aortic arch and carotid sinuses. All blood flow goes through the aortic arch and the carotid sinuses in the brain. The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system releases a potent vasoconstrictor called angiotensin 2 which causes the release of aldosterone. Aldosterone is an antidiuretic hormone which affects the kidney and glomerular filtration rate. The glomerular filtration rate is affected by how healthy the kidney is, which results in the reabsorption of sodium, chloride, and water. (Jills PowerPoint) 2. The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system has to do with renin being released from the kidney if blood flow is low, or a low blood pressure. The renin goes to the liver and causes angiotensinogen which is converted to angiotensin 1. Angiotensin 1 then goes to the lungs and angiotensin-converting enzymes convert angiotensin 1 to angiotensin 2.
