8-1 Discussion: Wrapping Up and Moving Forward What are some careers related to abnormal psychology and their educational requirements? And what sorts of responsibilities might someone in this field take on? If you were to pursue a career related to abnormal psychology, which would you choose and why? Some different careers related to abnormal psychology are, clinical psychologist and clinical social worker. The career of a clinical psychologist educational requirements is, “a clinical psychologist who diagnoses and treats patients with psychological disorders needs to have a doctorate in clinical psychology”. (Miller, 2017) The requirements for a clinical social worker are, “Most master's level counselors, psychotherapists and clinical social workers are also specialists in abnormal psychology”. (Miler, 2017). Some different types of responsibilities in both fields are to work with patients that suffer from abnormal behavior. I personally would want a clinical social worker because I would want to work in the school system to help with the relationships between teachers and parents and children’s education. What are some of the most important ethical standards adhered to by practicing psychologists in the career that you are most interested in pursuing?
