actions that follow drink spiking such as rape and sexual assault, Detex Straws aim to deal directly with the action of drink spiking, preventing any such disastrous actions from resulting. Detex Straws aims to combat the growing problem of drink spiking within the UK, starting off with the very common premises of the nightlife sector – nightclubs. After five years, we will then expand to other industries such as pubs/bars and festivals. 1.2 PRODUCT SUMMARY A Detex Straw will be provided with every drink from those companies active in the nightlife industry that chose to form a business relationship with us. Our straw, when placed in a beverage, will alert the customer as to whether their drink has been spiked with any of the four most common drink spiking drugs. Small strips of paper attached at the bottom of the straw will change colour depending on the drug present. If there’s a colour change on the straw, the drink is not safe to consume. 1.3 OWNERSHIP The business will be run by myself. Whilst promoting and selling Detex Straws in and around Lincoln, no partner or colleague will be needed. When expanding across the UK, employees and managers will inevitably be hired, however they will be paid via salary (and bonuses) – I will remain the only shareholder of the business. 1.4 FINANCING SUMMARY £10,000 of my own savings will be used to finance Detex Straws along with a £50,000 investment from Westbound Logistics Services Ltd who will take a cut of any profits at 5%. Due to the relationship I have with the Director, cheap financing is possible – repayments will only be made once Detex Straws start making a profit and therefore, as a “risky” start-up company, this is preferable than the alternative of paying a high interest rate on a loan.
