:  The agency proposes $500,000over a three (3) year period beginning FY2013 to be included in the State Categorical Grants for the Department of Social Services to provide hands-on job training workshops in office administration, security, construction, and apartment maintenance

STATEMENT OF NEED:  This request is a result of an increased workload, based on the increased growth to the city.  With the growth rate increase, it will have an effect on how we administered public services and most importantly, good governance. Since the increase in population, the suicide rate has increase.  We have been monitoring the suicide rate since the increase of our population growth for the last 3 years and feel that it is due time to start  training staff to better prevent suicide.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:  If the request is approved, the department would have expanded the workforce by 20 percent this year. With the increase number of train social workers, they will be able to cover more ground.     Downtown areas will be greatly impacted by the increase growth.
