In the text it states that, “The disintegrating two-parent with child family ideal violates many individuals’ core values of providing a home that offers emotional and financial stability, comfort and security. Religious, political, educational, and community leaders alike blame societal ills on the breakdown of the traditional family” (Korgen&Furst, 2012, Sec. 8.1). These are some of the core social values that society believes are most challenged by legalizing gay adoption. If society believes the changing nature of the family is to blame for these societal problems, then legalizing gay adoption would only contribute to the issues as stated in the text.
