1. In what manner does Socrates describe himself as having a slight advantage over one of his accusers?
In Plato’s The Apology of Socrates, the oracle of Delphi states that no man is wiser than Socrates. Socrates believes this to be false, so he sets out to question those that he and others believe to be wise. He questions politicians, poets, artisans, and others trying to find one that is wiser than he. What Socrates discovers is those with reputations for wisdom, only think they are wise, but in fact, they are not wise and are ignorant of this fact. He tries to explain to them that though they think they are wise, they are not, which only earns him their enmity. Socrates has a slight advantage over his accusers because he is aware of his lack of knowledge, whereas the others are unaware (Plato 783-84).
