The video I chose to watch was Child Exposure to Domestic Violence; which is considered a personal crime. The video went in to the homes of children who have witness first hand one of their parents being abused by the other. The children do not understand what is going on and it is sad to hear them say “My daddy said he would kill my mommy and then us.” Many times the parent who is being abused will put a restraining order on the other parent, but this does not keep them away. It is understandable that the mom loves the dad and they had a child together; the dad needs to be in the life of that child. But to what extreme is the mother going to keep him around. Children do not understand things like this, nor should they ever witness these things. The child may grow up hating one or both of the parents; they become afraid of the abuser. What kinds of damage will seeing these things do to the child?
