For the StatCrunchU database, write a report with a brief methodology section and a Results section. Do NOT include a reference section. Do NOT include an abstract. Do NOT include your literature review. The required content of the Results section is listed in (2) below. You will turn in this assignment in Module 9.
Using the StatCrunchU database, select a sample of 500 students.
Your report must contain the following sections: (Point value in parentheses)
1. Methodology which contains:
a. Study Design (3)
b. Population and Sample, (3)
c. Variables. Variable description must contain a word description of the variable, the type of variable (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio), description of any groups within the variable, etc. (4)
2. Results. The results section shall consist of the following:
1) The first 15 rows of the data. (-10 if missing)
2) For the entire sample, calculate Summary Statistics for all variables and present the output table. (10)
3) Calculate Summary Statistics for all variables for students who have loans (Loan Amount >0) and present the output table in the Results section. All the rest of the hypotheses and analyses will consider only students who have loans. (10)
4) For students who have loans, consider the relationship between Loan Amount and the other 5 variables. Develop a hypothesis (HA) about the relationship between Loan Amount and each of the other variables. For the relationship between each variable and loan amount:
a) List your HA and the H0. (5 x 2 = 10)
b) Define and list the appropriate analysis technique for each hypothesis. Justify your choice. (5 x 4 = 20)
c) Prepare and present graphs to illustrate the results of each test. Use scatterplots, bar charts, box charts or others as appropriate. (5 x 3 = 15)
d) Prepare and present the analysis results for each hypothesis. This shall include both a copy of the complete analysis output from StatCrunch AND a written description of the result for each hypothesis. Present your conclusion based on the analysis result. (5 x 5 = 25)
Hints:
1. HINT 1: State your hypotheses in words clearly and completely. Do not just copy the StatCrunch lines that refer to H0 and HA.
2. HINT 2: I expect that you will use at least one 1-way ANOVA, one t test, and one linear regression. You will need more than one of some of these, but if you don’t use at least one of each, you are missing something.
3. HINT 3: When you consider the relationship between students with loans and their credit card debt, look at the students who have both types of debt only.
4. HINT 4: Organize your Results section by variable. In other words, present the results as requested in 4a – 4d for one variable, and then for the next variable, etc.
