Finkelstein is a prolific author and Professor. Mr. Cappelli asks Professor Finkelstein about a leadership trait that he believes a few people have that allow them to œgenerate and regenerate talent on a continuous basis.(Knowledge@Wharton, 2020) The conversation is a deep dive in how these individuals might cultivate this talent. Finkelstein understands something I wish more people did: The employee is an integral part of any business. I think, especially the bigger a business gets, that people are the most valuable asset. I don™t think I am special for thinking/knowing this, but I think the people that climb the ranks of a business that remember this are. People often forget or take for granted what is most important. Retaining what you learned and know through experience is not always easy. These are lessons I don™t want to forget. We all know what we hate now but what about ten years from now in a wholly different position? It is very important to me to carry this information and knowledge forward. It is important for it to be part of who I am not just a box to check. I think in order to cultivate leadership like the people Finkelstein is talking about is not a superhuman ability.
