There are many requirements that need to be met before becoming a probation officer. Educational requirements, the application requirements and the Indiana™s probation officer certification exam are all parts of the hiring process. It is much more complicated to apply and become a probation officer for Indiana because it™s such a demanding job. The position entails many different cases and lots of trouble people. This job is not for the faint of heart. First, you must acquire a bachelor™s degree in one of the following fields, psychology, criminal justice, social work, or any other field approved for a bachelor™s degree by an accredited college or university,(Probation Officer Career in Indiana). Even after you become a probation officer, you are required to have at least 12 hours of continuing education each year. This helps to keep updated on the new rules and regulations, if there are any, and to help maintain all of the certificates needed. Next is the application process and this is where everything because intense. The person applying for this job must be 21 years of age, and American citizen and of good moral character. If those minimum requirements are met, then the rest of the process can continue. The application must be filled out to take with you to the exam portion of the hiring process.
