IT 331 FinalProject.docx IT 331: Final Project - Company Consult Debrief Southern New Hampshire University Application Overview The application I chose to analyze for my final project is PayPal. My primary reason for choosing this app is because it™s one I use often and am very familiar with. PayPal is a global e-commerce company that supports online cash transactions between individuals and businesses alike. Its primary purpose is to provide users with a safe, simple, alternative to using their credit/debit cards to pay for goods and services or even transfer money to other individuals over the internet. They even go the extra mile by offering their own credit cards as well as what™s called a PayPal Cash card, which is essentially a debit card for your PayPal account. To complete my initial analysis, I™ll be using Schneiderman™s Eight Golden Rules as a guideline. The Eight Golden Rules are general guidelines used by developers to support HCI best practices for interface design. According to the Eight Golden Rules, a website/application should do the following; 1.Strive for Consistency 2.Seek Universal Usability 3.Offer Informative Feedback 4.Design Dialogs to Yield Closure 5.Prevent Errors 6.Permit Easy Reversal of Actions 7.Keep Users in Control 8.Reduce Short Term Memory load The PayPal appears to be a model application for the use of the Eight Golden rules, as my analysis will explain. Visual/Graphic Design The PayPal app has a very aesthetically pleasing user interface. Upo
