IHP_week_6.doc    Nursing, Southern New Hampshire University  Ethical and legal considerations   Terri Schiavo  Facts of the case   On February 25th, 1990 at age 26 Thresa Marie Schiavo, better known as Terri Schiavo, suffered from an unwitnessed cardiac arrest in her home. Terri went several minutes without oxygenation to her brain resulting in severe brain damage medically referred to as a persistent vegetive state PVS (which control thinking and awareness) for Terri this was complete brain damaged only the brain stem which control basic function such as breathing remains.
