Terri went several minutes without oxygenation to her brain resulting in severe brain damage medically referred to as a persistent vegetive state PVS (which control thinking and awareness) for Terri this was complete brain damaged only the brain stem which control basic function such as breathing remains. (The New York Times, 2014) Initially Terri™s husband and family joined together to find the best care possible for her to gain back her strength and bring back the person they love and adored until 4 years after her horrific event things took a turn for the worst a family feud had sparked creating a division between the individuals who loved Terri the most her parent Robert and Mary Schindler and husband Michael Schiavo. (The New York Times, 2014) Michael discussed to New York times in an interview that the providers gave him a grim prognosis one in which the parents where there to witness Terri was not going to function there was nothing more, they can do. Terri Schiavo had a feeding tube placed which delivered adequate nutrient for survival.
