IHP340_M6_JournalReflection.docx Journal: Rejecting and Failing to Reject the Null Hypothesis Nursing, Southern New Hampshire University IHP-340Stats-Healthcare Professionals Journal: Journal: Rejecting and Failing to Reject the Null Hypothesis A null hypothesis means that there is no difference between the groups that researchers are investigating. The alternative hypothesis is what researchers are looking to find supportive evidence to prove that the alternative hypothesis is true (Lock et al., 2017). Researchers will fail to reject the null hypothesis if there no is supportive evidence showing that the alternative hypothesis is true (Lock et al., 2017). If researchers fail to prove the alternative hypothesis is true, they cannot state void the null hypothesis. However, if there is supportive evidence indicating for the alternative hypothesis researchers will reject the null (Lock et al., 2017). Rejecting the null and having supportive evidence does not mean that the alternative hypothesis holds any truth (Lock et al., 2017). References Lock, R. H., Lock, P. F., Morgan, K. L., Lock, E.
