Professional ethics are the social work™s core. This profession has an obligation to protect families while making them aware of the principles, standards, and values. The first ethical issue I would have to be mindful of is my bias toward the situation. There are four children involved and their mother has passed away and one of the children™s father has passed away and one of the father™s are in jail for murdering Ms. Jones. As a mother, I would feel horrible for these children as they have endured so much trauma and emotional situations in their life than most people ever experience. I would have to keep my own feelings separate when determining what steps are needed in this situation.   Social workers have a main responsibility and that is to promote the well being of the client. The social worker in this case has petitioned the courts on behalf of Jennie Jones™ children. One father who is in jail does not want to give up his parental rights, two of the other children father want to voluntarily give up their rights and the oldest child™s father is deceased. Mrs. Jones does not want to adopt the children because she feels that they are already family, but she does want to care for them. The case worker explains this information to the supervisor. The
