Executives are most concerned with trade secrets and copyright infringement laws dealing with intellectual property. The executives have already implemented new technology (hardware) to help combat cyber threats in general, and they now want to invest in making their employee training more robust. Using this scenario we will identify both the gaps in human and legal factors as well as explain why a proactive security mind-set is beneficial for all levels of the organization listed in our scenario. Human Factors In regards to gaps in security relating to the human factor, we can see that employees in question is the largest security gap. Phishing emails requiring one to open them to install malware to the system and is often accomplished through attachments. First we need to identify what phishingis. According to Josh Fruhlinger at csoonline.com(2020), phishing is defined as a method of trying to gather personal information using deceptive e-mails and websites. (para. 1).When looking at the scenario, we can see how the human error of the employees and the lack of proper training in identifying and handling phishing emails is a severe gap in security.
