Tort law have been established to provide relief to an injured parties due to harm cause, hold parties responsible, and hopefully stop others from repeating the act.  A tort helps shift accountability from the injured part o the person actually at fault, or possibly someone who is better suited to bear the burden of loss. Typically monetary compensation is seeked in tort cases.
