506_journal_8_2d_draft.docx Capstone Project Limitations and Biases Nursing Dept. Southern New Hampshire University NUR 506 Evidence Based Practice Capstone Project Limitations and Biases   Limitations All studies have some negative sides and flaws therefore they will have limitations(Polit & Tatano, 2017). Limitations are restrictions or restraints placed on a study. In this capstone project there is the limitation of time. We are to have a whole quality improvement project completed in the ten-week term of Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), which is a very short time span. Another limitation is the data collected is from one facility and done only once. This also makes it difficult to determine the validity, since we do not have another compare it too. The other limitation is we cannot determine if the knowledge gained during the presentation was from our information or from somewhere else. The researcher should question did the participant get answers from another colleague during the test? Did they participant use a smartphone for answers instead of listening to the education session. When the pre- and post-test were set up were there any guidelines or rules given on where answers could be gathered? Bias Bias is considered to be any influence that provides a distortion in the results of a study(Polit & Tatano, 2017). Bias exists in all research and can happen at any stage of the study. Smith & Noble(2014) state that bias impacts the validity and reliability of a study(p100).
