IT331_Unit_4_Discussion_1.docx Professor and Classmates, Discuss the type of noise that is the most difficult to remove from an analog and a digital signal? Give reasons for your answer. Going in a different direction then the crowd, just to create more discussion…. According to chapter 6, in our reading, Impulse Noise is stated to be ‘one of the most difficult errors to detect (White, 2016). Our question asks for the most difficult noise to remove, for this I am going to say White Noise. White noise can never be removed, ‘it is always present to some degree (White, 2016). The degree in which white noise is present is dependent on the temperature of the medium being used. The higher the temperature, the more activity between electrons, which causes the greater white noise. White noise is continuous and can be reduced but never removed. How does error detection and correction work with wireless signals? Checksum – is an error detection method used on transmissions with high-level protocols. Using an algorithm, messages are run through a cryptographic hash function that creates a checksum, this string of numbers and letters with a fixed length is sent to the receiving device where it compares the checksum to see if the fixed length is correct. If it is, no error detected. If different it asks the sending device to resend the message. Another form of error control is sending the message back to the sending device. Is data compressed when being transmitted? Describe the process. Yes, data
