Topic Selection Reflection  When I first realized a change was needed in the way I communicated started long before entering into this course. This course made me more aware of just how important and effective proper communication is. Week 1 and 2 opened my eyes to new techniques and communication styles. In week 2 lesson I gain understanding of how nonverbal communication and actively listening can determine how I respond and that response can determine the direction of the entire conversation. My topic choice was Perception and Listening. The reason for me choosing this topic was because I believe this is a common communication issue for many people. The way we perceive a message varies on a variety of factors such as; past experiences, character, culture, etc. The connection between listening is perceiving a message work hand and hand when communicating. In order to fully understand the message being interpreted, you must actively listen to understand. According to Bachorowski, listeners are very skilled at “making accurate evaluations of emotional states without visual cues.”  8B. Implementation Analysis: Satisfaction  I have noticed major improvements in how I communicate. I am slow to speak and quick to listen.
