Two prominent factors in achieving a culturally sensitive environment are diversity and inclusion. In this manner, diversity is more than looking at an individuals race or sex, but rather all aspects of the culture that the person possesses. Culture being defined as “the customary traits, attitudes, and behaviors of a group of people†(Newman, 2017). This is important in a work environment because every experience and characteristic that we as individuals have makes us diverse. Diversity can lead to different ideas and perceptions from individuals. Then there is the value of creating an inclusive environment where the unique contributions each employee adds to the organization are values and respected. The benefits with this type of work environment include growing culture, more educated employees and happy workers, which can lead to increased production with new ways to solve problems and widen the skills of a workforce. Demonstrating cultural sensitivity when interacting with international clients is immensely important for business interactions and can set the mood for future partnerships and potential sales. Three strategies for communicating across cultures are showing respect, maintaining formality, and communicating clearly (Newman, 2017). Using the
