LST1 Task 1.docx  A. Steps in Strategic Plan  My school organization has taken many steps to develop strategic plans. The first step my school organization takes in developing a strategic plan is identifying the issue that needs to be tackled. For example, in the past chronic absenteeism and low test scores have been issues that have been addressed through strategic plans.   The next step in developing a strategic plan is putting together a committee. In my school, the administration asks staff members to be on committees that develop strategic plans. Since my school includes grades Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade, a diverse selection of staff is chosen across grade levels and subject. Each of the participants involved in the process is identified. Besides classroom and in class support teachers, strategic planning committees also include at least one student services member such as a Guidance Counselor or Social Worker. The strategic planning committees are also overseen by the administrators.  Once the strategic planning committee has been formed, administration comes up with a time and place for the committee to meet. During these meetings, attendance and the meetings minutes are recorded. The meetings include coming up with goals and action steps to reach the goals. Members of the strategic planning committee are given specific tasks to complete in order to implement action steps. The subsequent meetings that follow, go over any progress towards the goals as well as any further steps
