HLT 310V- Module 4 DQ 2.docx  How realistic is it to expect health care workers to model mental, physical, and spiritual health? If Americans tend to be overweight, underactive workaholics who experience burnout, why should health care workers be any different?  I have mixed feelings regarding this topic. Data showing physicians are healthier than the general population is plentiful; however, that may not apply to other health care workers (Pittman, 2012). On one hand, health care workers are human so it is unrealistic to hold them to a higher standard, even if they do attain the knowledge and often observe the detrimental consequences that certain habits/characteristics have on the human body. Not to mention, in most circumstances health care workers are subject to high levels of stress and many work long and irregular hours, resulting in difficulties in eating regular and healthy meals. All of the aforementioned aspects predispose health care workers to overweight problems or obesity, and negatively affects their mental and spiritual well-being significantly (Pittman, 2012). Conversely, if I am in need of some help, whether for financially, spiritually, or medically, I expect that person to be proficient in their field and demonstrate specific qualities that exhibit this expertise. For example, if I sought financial advice and found out he/she had past financial distress/concerns, applying his/her guidance to my life would seem unwise. Similarly, as a health care worker instructing patients they need to
