How do the roles of the various team members within the healing-hospital blueprint address caring for the sick from a biblical standpoint?  Whether an individuals job/career involves caring for the ailing or one takes on the responsibility of caring for an elderly family member, caring for others can be difficult yet rewarding. The Bible is a great source of inspiration and can give people the support, hope, and strength in times of need or despair. The Bible addresses numerous passages that reveal an aspect of caring for the sick. In fact, according to The Voice of Healing (2011), “Out of 3,779 verses in the four Gospels, 727 relate specifically to the healing of physical and mental illness and the resurrection of the dead”. A Biblical passage that comes to mind regarding the care of the sick is James 5: 14-15, which reads, “14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.…” (English Standard Version, 2004).
