BUS_FP3050__Assessment2_1.docx Mgmt FP 3050 Responding to Conflict Capella University Part 1: Analyze Your Approach to the Issue The conflict within the email exchange of the EOC team started with the original email from Brad Nygard. Brad has a very strong personality and is very straightforward which he exemplified in the tone of his email. He is a rule-follower and does not like to think outside the box. Therefore, in his email, he directs the group to where and when he set up the meeting. The emergency protocol is to hold the meeting at the Brown Trout Bay Courthouse, but, due to the emergency flooding, the commutes of the team will be longer and very dangerous. He is obviously an Authoritarian leadership style and gives directives instead of cascading the team for input. Authoritarian leaders' self-centered motives are often displayed through disregarding or discounting their subordinate's ideas or contributions, and others perceive this type of leader to be overbearing, disrespectful, and self-centered (Kelly and MacDonald, 2019). His lack of compassion or consideration for the commutes of the other team members created tension immediately which translated into a caustic exchange of opinions. I, being the leader of the team, should have initiated the email string. I would have been more democratic and asked for input from the team rather than give directives without including the team in the decision. This would have prevented the caustic email string that was to ensue and established
