Introduction
The best way that I can think of to approach ethics is to know that you have the right to chooses to do right from wrong. When you think about it everyone in this world can choose to do right or wrong. From a baby on up we began to learn the difference between right and wrong. When it comes to ethics there are many ways to approach it, learn from it, and apply it. In the ethics class that I am in we have learned many ethical theories. Some of those theories are Virtue Ethics, Natural Law Ethics, Ethics Egoism, Utilitarianism, Duty Ethics, and Revelation Christian Ethics just to name some of them. If I had to choose or make up my own approach to ethics it would be a combination of Natural Law Ethics and Revelation Christian Ethics.
Natural Law Ethics
Natural Law Ethics holds that the fundamental principles of ethical conduct are rationally discernible in human nature and the natural world. (Jones 2017) It holds that through reflecting on the world in which we live human nature, the basic needs of human flourishing and the like, we can discern which actions are moral. (Jones 2017) In the natural law ethics the influence are taken away from the influence God and more on the influence of people and the world that they live in. They believe that it is the nature of people to know right from wrong with the influence of a God. The thing about this type of ethic is it will always change. As the world changes so will the beliefs and the ethics of the people change. There was a time when people would not think about having sex before marriage. In their nature they knew and felt that it was wrong and that it should not be done. In today’s time in the nature of most people premarital six was up to debate. You could now choose if you want to wait or not. And most of the world will not think or look down on you. Your nature now tells you that it is ok that everyone is doing it and that it is not a bad thing to do. Having children before you get married is some else that has change over time with your human nature may tell you that it’s ok.
