Week_6_assign_Show_You_Care_Ethics.docx    Scholarly Paper: Show you Care  Chamberlain University College of Nursing  ETHIC 445N: Principles of Ethics  Show you Care  A moralposition that I stumbled upon whileemployed at a therapy facility was when an LVN asked me to supply a patient their insulin medication as she was behind schedule on her medications. In this case, I was working as a CNA, taking care of the basic needs of the patients and for all residents staying in the nursing home. This job consisted ofcollecting vital signs, examining blood glucose levels, bathing, assisting the bathroom, and any other assistance they needed.  Although I am a nursing student, I am not allowed to practice giving medication to any patient, especially in a facility where I am not under my school preceptor's supervision. This dilemma can not only cause me to lose my job as well as the LVN giving me orders to provide medication. Thus, this is a serious ethical dilemma that can cause more damage than good for the patient from the LVN who was behind on her morning medication passing schedule. As I analyzed the situation, I immediately knew that my ethical response would be to say no. Still, I had to take into consideration that with the number of patients giving medication too can become stressful, as well as, if she asked me to provide a drug, would she also ask other CNA's to do so.
