Assignment Objectives:

• Differentiate budgeting operational plans, cost categories, and budgeting guidelines.
• Tabulate the different kinds of budgets and the different budgeting techniques.

Assignment Details and Assignment Description:  You are a manager in a fictitious company of your choice. Your director has asked you to explain to the department staff the different types of budgets and techniques in order to provide an overall understanding. For this assignment, you must develop a 3 to 4-page narrative (NOT including title page and references page) that you will deliver to the department staff and director explaining the different kinds of budgets. Please select or make up your company and its purpose. You will also recommend which type of budget should be used and which budgeting technique would best fit the company. Using an income of 1 Million per year, you must answer the following questions:

• What are the various kinds of budgets? Please explain each.
• Which type of budget is best for your selected company?
• Which type of calendar year will you choose and why?

Remember to use credible resources to support your argument. Be sure to cite your sources using the correct standard of APA.  Remember to use APA format for paper Times New Roman, 12 point font size, double spaced, and 1” margins (normal margin layout).

The assignment will be graded in accordance with the following grading rubric:

Deliverable requirements addressed; understanding of material and writer's message and intent are clear.          40%

Calculation methods, where required, are contextually appropriate, fully explained, and presented in a manner that is easy to understand.          10%

External research incorporated in the paper, if any, supports the writer's position and is properly acknowledged, and cited direct quotations may not exceed 10% of the word count of the body of the assignment deliverable (excluding title page, abstract, table of contents, tables, exhibits, appendices, and reference pages). Inclusion of plagiarized content will not be tolerated and may result in adverse academic consequences.          5%

Critical Thinking: Position is well-justified, there is logical flow, and there are examples.          20%

Structure: Includes introduction and conclusion, proper paragraph format, and reads as a polished, academic paper or professional presentation, as appropriate for the required assignment deliverable.          10%

Mechanical: No spelling, grammatical, or punctuation errors.          10%

APA: Deliverable is cited properly according to the APA Publication Manual (6th ed.).          5%
