Criminal Courts and .docx    Criminal Courts and Sentencing Goal  CJS 201  Criminal Courts and Sentencing Goal  A High-Profile Case that happen within the states I chose was the Vincent Brothers Trial here in my local City of Bakersfield, Ca.  Vincent Brothers was a mass murder who was convicted of killing his wife, their three children and his mother-in-law. Brother who was the former vice principal of John C. Fremont Elementary School in Bakersfield, Ca.  Vincent Brothers was convicted and found guilty of killing his wife their new baby, two toddlers and his mother-in-law on July 6, 2003. He tried to use and create an alibi by flying to Columbus, Ohio claiming to visit his Brother. He then drove rental car to Bakersfield, where he murdered his family members, and drove back to Ohio. Forensic analysis said the rental car he used showed insects native to states west of the Rocky Mountains and odometer supported that claim due to the round-trip miles to California. Brothers was convicted of first-degree murders with special circumstance of multiple murder and he was ultimately sentenced to death in which he is still waiting.   In this case, Criminal Court was used due to the high profile of this case. Why this was taken place at criminal court is because of the nature of the crime and what happen. This crime was considered one of Bakersfield biggest crime that ever happen here due to what happen and how it happens.
