Contractions: painless, irregular frequency, intermittent. decrease in frequency and intensity with walking or position changes. felt in lower back or abdomen above umbilicus. often stop with sleep or comfort measures such as oral hydration or emptying of the bladder.

Cervix: no sig. change in dilation or effacement. no sig. bloody show. remains in posterior position.

fetus: presenting part is not engaged in pelvis

Use an approved rear-facing car seat in the back seat, preferably in the middle, (away from air bags and side impact) to transport the newborn. Keep infants in rear-facing car seats until age 2 or until the child reaches the maximum height and weight for the seat. Do not use a used or secondhand car seat.
