Different individuals accused of perpetrating different activities towards the occurrence of the scandals in the country have been convicted for the offenses in different magnitudes. Most scandals in the United States’ public sector involve different unethical practices by different individuals holding public offices or individuals in the public sector. The most ordinary unethical practice that has contributed to the highest number of scandals in the United States’ public and private sectors is corruption. Mostly, influential or powerful persons working in different capacities engage in various malpractices for their own selfish financial gains. Their actions are, however, exposed as scandals; most of which are valued at millions or billions of dollars. Kaloyeros was the founding president of the SUNY Polytechnic institute in New York. Moreover, he was appointed by Cuomo to oversee the majority of the government’s high-value economic development projects in different within the state, including the Buffalo Billion program. During his tenure at the governor’s office, Kaloyeros was tasked with the administration of different tendering processes. It was later established that he had been involved in a corruption scandal during his tenure at the governor’s office; in which he rigged the bids for various state-funded contracts in 2016. The jobs involved in the scandal were valued at more than $850 million. The $750 million contracts to build the Tesla/Panasonic solar-panel manufacturing plant was part of the Buffalo Billion and was among the rigged tenders. The shady deals lead to the awarding of the contracts to LP Ciminelli and COR Development companies. He was, however, arrested on September 22, 2016, and convicted to 3.5 years in jail. Two executives of LPC and COR Development, Louis Ciminelli, Aiello and Gerardi, were also convicted for participating in the corruption scandal. When discussion the corruption scandal, it is essential to highlight that Governor Andrew Cuomo had appointed Alain Kaloyeros as an overseer for the county’s economic development projects as he sought to revitalize its state. The affected projects came at a time when the county government was highly committed to the delivery of high-quality services through state-funded projects such as the Buffalo initiative.
