Lab Week 4
Sampling of signals and aliasing
1. Create a sinusoidal signal in Matlab with the following specifications:
a. Sampling frequency = 2560 Hz
b. Signal frequency = 40 Hz
c. Signal amplitude = 2;
d. Phase = 0 rads
e. 5120 samples are collected
2. Plot the analog signal (using plot command) and the discrete signal (using stem command) on the same graph. The x-axis must be time in seconds.
3. Generate and plot the spectrum of the generated signal (frequency components). Limit the x-axis to frequencies up to fs/2=1280 Hz.
4. Use subplot command to plot the two graphs from steps 1 and 2 in one figure window. Label the axes in both plots.
5. Identify the frequency component(s) present in the signal. Is the sampling theorem satisfied? Is there any aliasing? If yes, identify the alias frequency.
