Epidemiology Paper

NUR/408
Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events (including disease), and focuses on groups rather than individuals and often takes a historical perspective (Beaglehole, Bonit, and Kjellstrom, 2003). It also provides the reasonable framework for the specifics that allow public health officials to recognize significant public health issues and to describe their dimensions. Descriptive epidemiology examines a population to observe what parts (e.g., age, sex, ethnic group, occupation) are caused by a disorder, follows alterations or changes in its occurrence or humanity over time and in unusual places, and assists in identifying syndromes or recommend associations with danger factors. Analytic epidemiology examines inquiries to check the conclusions of descriptive reviews or laboratory observations.
